SimScholars™ Curriculum Moving to a Learning Management System

You asked. We listened! As a result, the curriculum team has been working diligently to move the SimScholars™ curriculum to a new Learning Management System (LMS) format, which will launch next month. What does this mean for learners and instructors? For learners, it means increased engagement. For instructors, it means time-saving functionality and ease of use.

When the new LMS launches, your learners will have access to expanded content, including engaging animations, graphics and new how-to videos; plus all of our curriculum to pair with hands-on Cat® Simulators training. Instructors will find improvements as well, saving valuable instruction time through improvements on learner progress reports and data.

Keep an eye out for future emails with details about the release date, training dates and more in the coming weeks!

Collins Career Technical Center’s Successful Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program Continues to Grow

In 2021, the Collins Career Technical Center (CCTC) in Chesapeake, Ohio, launched its successful adult Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) training program. Over the past three years, the program has provided well-trained heavy equipment operators to the surrounding area’s construction industry. As a result of its success, the program continues to grow.

A needs assessment focused on local employers and Local Operating Engineers in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia, led by Michael Staton, CCTC’s Associate Director and Chris Leese, Post-Secondary Administrator/Director of Technology, has revealed an important requirement: That heavy equipment operators are in need, and an in-depth HEO training program will prove crucial for the future of the Tri-State’s workforce.

“We determined there was a great need for operator training to address the future demands of close to 22,000 heavy equipment operators over the next two years,” said Staton. Learn more about CCTC’s successful HEO program.
