As the pandemic continues to affect our lives in so many ways, we at Simformotion™ have had to find ways to continue to conduct business. Some days it’s harder than others. Like the rest of the world, we have been affected by illness and loss. The challenges have also made us think creatively. That’s how our live stream room began. Despite the travel bans and limitations, we can still train customers and demo Cat® Simulators. With multiple cameras, our trainers, and a live feed, it’s the next best thing to being physically in the room. No need to wait on training, or for a simulator demo, when you can see and learn live. Lord Fairfax Community College Brings a State Together to Develop a Workforce

LFCC was the first community college in Virginia to offer statewide industry credential programs for heavy equipment operators. Since its launch, the school has had 159 students complete the heavy equipment program. LFCC worked with several community partners to establish the operator training program. Free Publicity

Want some free publicity for your heavy equipment operator program? The simulators are an excellent hook. Plan a special event or “day” where you can host a tour of your facility and include the simulators. The technology angle is going to grab peoples’ attention and make them want to attend.

Invite local press—news stations and the newspapers.
Invite local dignitaries to show how advanced your school or company is.
Call your Chamber of Commerce to make them aware of your program so they can help promote it when talking to other businesses.

Make sure you stay connected with the media so you know when your segment is live. Link it and post on all of your social media platforms as well as your website. Be sure to share the coverage and links with us here at Cat® Simulators. We will do our part to continue to promote. In addition, have internal media students, or someone on staff, videotape the event. Use that footage as well to create more posts and add to your website. Make it easy for people to find the video by posting on the pages that feature your operator training program. Toot your own horn and you’ll reach many new fans (aka potential new students)!

SimLite for Easy Travel & Remote Learning

The pandemic has created a need for more remote learning as schools and businesses keep students and employees safe. Cat® Simulators has responded to that need by developing compact and portable training that can be set up in socially distanced stations or travel easily to home or off-site locations. The simulator also has an online curriculum available. Cat Simulators are the only Caterpillar-licensed simulators on the market.

Grant Opportunities

Many grant opportunities are available for schools looking for additional funding through the US government. The application process is detailed and applicants must meet the identified criteria, but a grant award can go a long way in expanding a program. For example, one grant opportunity that will be closing on Oct 8^th, is the “Strengthening Community Colleges Training Grants – FOA-ETA-20-07”

This grant will build the capacity of community colleges to collaborate with employers and the public workforce development system to meet local and regional labor market demand for a skilled workforce. Read more on this grant.

Curriculum Corner

We continue to add new models with available curriculum to SimScholars™, with the latest being Advanced Construction Excavator and SimLite Excavator. SimScholars includes instructor guides, lesson plans, lessons, videos, quizzes and much more. The curriculum is available in an online format, suitable for in-class use or remote learning. Get hands-on training with Cat Simulators, and learn more about safety, applications and maintenance with SimScholars.
