What is a simulation-based credential?

NCCER and SimformotionTM, the licensee for Cat® Simulators for Caterpillar Inc., have aligned HEO training resources to combine simulation experiences with classroom training. Completion of the required curricula and training will result in a NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) simulation-based credential that validates knowledge and skills.

How do I get started using NCCER and earning simulation-based credentials?

You must own Cat Simulators systems, become accredited with NCCER and offer heavy equipment operations training using the NCCER curriculum. Note: Organizations that are not accredited can still use Cat Simulators; however, they will not be eligible to earn NCCER simulation-based credentials.

How do I earn a simulation-based credential?

A simulation-based credential is earned by completing Cat Simulators training and passing the NCCER module test. Cat Simulators training will serve as the performance profile requirement for each module identified in the chart to the left. A simulated performance evaluation must be submitted to NCCER via the performance app to indicate successful completion of the simulator training.
