Peoria, IL, June 2014—Simformotion™ LLC – a leader in heavy equipment simulator development – is proud to announce that it has selected Jordan W. Ellis for the 2014-2015 Cat® Simulators Scholarship. The winner receives a $2,000 scholarship to support the pursuit of a heavy equipment-related career.
Applications were accepted from students enrolled in an accredited heavy equipment-related program at an institution that utilizes Cat Simulators as part of their training program or curriculum. Ellis, a 2013 graduate of Westfield Academy & Central School in N.Y., is attending Alfred State College, N.Y., and enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Operations program.
Ellis is currently a freshman at Alfred State College, where he is involved in the school’s disaster relief team. In addition to a job operating heavy equipment during college breaks, he is involved with the Alfred and Ripley N.Y. fire districts. He is attending the required firefighter training classes this summer to achieve his N.Y. certifications. On his own, he obtained his NYS Class B CDL license—one of the youngest Class B license holders in the state.
Simformotion Vice President Lara Aaron says, “The need for people in the skilled trades is ever-present. Trained personnel will be needed for new construction projects; the revitalization of infrastructure; mining, forestry and agricultural operations, among others. By creating a scholarship, we can support and reward students pursuing a heavy equipment-related career and contribute to their future. It’s Simformotion’s way of making sure there are qualified people to build the world’s communities.”
Applications for the 2015-2016 Cat Simulators scholarship will be accepted beginning in January 2015.
