The single most effective step you can take to protect yourself while operating a piece of heavy equipment is to buckle up. Get operators in the habit of strapping in every time they sit down behind the controls.
Teach the behavior if it isn’t common practice. Cat® Simulator training can help the operator learn the actions so they become automatic. During the simulated exercises the system will fail the operator if he/she fails to buckle up. From the simulation and seat belt sensor, the operator learns to make buckling up the first action after seating.
