Simformotion LLC, Peoria, Ill.—a leader in heavy equipment simulator training solutions—announces the release of the new Cat® Simulators Track Feller Buncher System for Forestry. The new Track Feller Buncher Simulation Trainer is set in a forest environment where operators can learn to use the felling head and master the same machine applications found on actual forest production sites.

Safe training in a virtual environment is delivered through the use of authentic controls, combined with simulated training exercises. The Track Feller Buncher teaches Controls Familiarization, how to perform a machine Walkaround, Felling Head Placement, Loading and Off-Loading a Machine from a Low-Boy Trailer, Single and Multiple Tree Cutting, Clear Cutting, Thinning, and a special Open Training mode. Each of the included training exercises teaches an application that translates to real-world worksites.

Exclusive to Cat Simulators is SimU Campus, the software that measures, records and reports the results of all simulation sessions so instructors and users can track progress. Hundreds of benchmarks based on Caterpillar expert data are included in the system, with the operator’s performance measured against these benchmarks and outcomes recorded to a database. Plus, the PC-based simulator system can be equipped with a motion platform so users can feel the realistic machine movement during training exercises.

President Ken Pflederer says, “Production and safety are crucial to a forestry operation’s viability. The Track Feller Buncher is a large piece of equipment that must be operated correctly to reach optimal production and ensure the safety of the operator and personnel on the ground. Cat Simulator Systems address safety and teach operators how to correctly perform tasks efficiently before they work in an actual production setting.”

In addition to the new forestry simulator system, Cat Simulators are available in Articulated Truck, FM Log Loader, Large Dozer, Mining Truck, and Electric Rope Shovel models set in a mining environment; and Heavy Construction Dozer, Hydraulic Excavator, Off-Highway Truck, M-Series Motor Grader, and Small and Large Wheel Loaders.
